Why did I even start a blog?

So I haven't updated this thing in a while. I check up on all my friend's lives through here and happen to stumble upon a few other blogs of people I don't know. I just came across a new blog that has really touched me. A family lost their daughter in a tragic accident and is now trying to find how she belongs in this world. It's really solidified my desire to get back into church. Mark mentioned something about going last weekend and we've talked about going and have decided to do it! I actually can't wait!
Otherwise, not much else has changed! Still happily married, enjoying our home, dogs, and life in general!

The running begins...

So yesterday afternoon I decided to start my resolution to learn how to run. Oh boy was it hilarious! I took Wyatt, who Mark runs with, and it was just embarrassing for me. I kept having to start and stop, run and power walk. I don't know if I was expecting much more seeing as how it was my first day doing it. Poor Wyatt, full of energy, kept glancing up at me as if to say, "Are you kidding me mom?!? How humiliating!" Haha, oh well hopefully I'll have better luck today when I get home. That is if I don't convince myself out of running when I get home. I don't have any excuse though, I did get dinner all ready before leaving the house this morning, so I have nothing to worry about I suppose. I'm so domestic!

Peralta Hike

So last weekend, we did yet another hike for Valentine's Day and it was awesome! The scenery was absolutely beautiful!

For one of the first times, we made it to our actual destination, yes!! A beautiful view of Weaver's Needle.

We're gearing up for Grand Canyon this year. We're having so much fun with our new hobby, and so is Wyatt!

Secondwater Hike

We had such a great weekend! Me, Mark, Wyatt, mom and Uncle Nic all went hiking, but Uncle Nic failed to mention it was an all day hike before setting out! It sure was worth it though. Mom was a rockstar, for not having hiked in a very long time, she stuck it through the whole way, and didn't complain too much! The day started with Uncle Nic making some delicious omelettes to fuel us for the day. We took the Jeep and luckily remembered to put an old blanket in the back for Wyatt. Mark took the windy corners a little too sharply and Wyatt told us what he thought. That vomit was the most vile smell I've smelled in a while! We parked at the marina at Canyon Lake and set out for our hike. The first hill was pretty challenging, but was just a taste of what was to come.

We started plugging along and made it to another look out point. We could see down into the valley to where Secondwater would be. We made a unanimous decision to continue down, knowing that the steep climb down meant that much more difficulty coming back up.

This is where the fun began, hahaha! We made it down to the base of that mountain and somehow seemed to lose the trail. Mark and I apparently decided to follow some yuppy couple, girl fully donned in a spandex yoga outfit. Not quite sure what we were thinking. They led us through a replica of Boulder Canyon, about an hour in. Uncle Nic didn't recognize much, but we were all fooled by the flowing water and assumed it had to be right. We soon decided this was definitely not the right way and ecided to make our way back out. We found the right part of the trail that we should have taken, but decided that at this point, we were all too beat to keep going further in, only to add to that much more ditance to come out. We stopped at a nice little stream to let mom put her feet in the water and drink a bottle of wine and eat some bread. yum! nothing like gourmet hiking!
Now it was time to head back up that dreaded steep incline that was a pretty steep decline on our way down. It was pretty difficult, but we made it! And with smiles on our faces!

Just a little bit further and we made it out. A grand total of 6 hours of hiking! Phew! But I'm ready to do it again this weekend! I love it! So refreshing! Best line of the day by mom, "I'm never going to make it out of here. I am going to be a mountain dweller and have to live off the land!". But she made it! I'm so proud!

updated baby pictures (err, puppy) :o)

New pics of our little boys!!

A new woman!

I feel like a new woman! I just canceled my stupid training sessions that I spent way too much money on. I guess we have to make mistakes to learn from them, wow was that a stupid one! Anyone thinking of using a trainer, don't do it. It's not worth it, especially if it's through a gym, they're underpaid, hence making them worthless. I know how to use a machine, I'm not an idiot! Plus, this now makes me have to take responsibility and start my running! Eeep! I also got a new car! In a silly way, it kind of makes me feel more like an adult. Aside from Mark and I buying a home, this is another big purchase that is scary, but necessary. Carol the cavalier lived out her days joyously. From scraping curbs by a newly licensed 16year old with her crazy friends, to trips back and forth to Flagstaff during my college years. She's known many times in my life, good and bad. She's a book of me growing up! Haha, wow! Carol will be missed, though she will now hold her new home in the 3rd car garage and be used as Mark's commuter. She will never get thrown out! Lame post, haha sorry but I had to write something!

we've started our new hobby of hiking, and we love it! Wyatt was able to come, but Virgil had to stay home, still a little too small. This is Firstwater going into Secondwater

what ifs

Last week, I realized there is nothing concrete in this world. My company laid off almost 400 employees due to the current economy. Never did I imagine that a Registered Nurse, an occupation in such high demand, could be let go because of current conditions. Luckily, my job is intact, but I can't help but feel sad for those who were not so lucky. I immediately feel dispensable, and that is a scary thought! But at the same time, I feel fortunate to have my education. Regardless of the turn of events, I always have my knowledge to fall on no matter what life's circumstances bring my way.

Our little boys

Here is our silly little man Wyatt who has an odd fetish for anything made out of wood. And he wonders why his tummy hurts!!

And here we have the newest member of our family, Virgil. He is quite a bit smaller than Wyatt was when we got him. I suppose he will be the petite brother.

They're both German Shorthaired Pointers, and they both come with a ton of ENERGY! Not for the weak! haha

New Years Res

So I have decided on my New Years Resolution. Well, I suppose it is more of a few resolutions.
-1: I want to become a runner. Now by runner I don't mean marathon runner. I mean being able to run a distance longer than 2miles and not be winded after 10 minutes. To achieve this goal I plan to become a crazy dog lady. I have begun reading dog books, i.e. the loved dog, and have become obsessed with anything on national geographic channel that will better acquaint me with how to raise my little boys, i.e Dog Whisperer. To also achieve this goal, I plan on becoming a hiker. I got new hiking boots for Christmas and Mark and I received a half a dozen books on local trails. We plan on doing the Grand Canyon at some point this year. I know this all sounds like the proverbial "New Years Resolution" but it's not all about getting in shape and being healthy. It's about discovering new things and doing something other than sitting on the couch, watching the Dog Whisperer all day. Wait, I do love to do that! Ha
-2: Okay, so this is no shocker...debt. I myself don't come with much, but the man I married does. I was extraordinarily lucky to have received the things I have in life. The only debt I have is some couches we bought when we moved in along with the influx of money I continue to spend on repairs for my car. I am pretty lucky to have been able to maintain my car for 10years, but at some point, we will need to break down and get a new car for me. Our plan is to take all the money from taxes we get back and pay off all the credit cards and put the rest in saving. Cross fingers!
-3: Go on a honeymoon. Mark votes Europe, I vote tropical. I would be fine with Hawaii. We'll see what happens!
-4: Plant a garden and not allow it to die. I've decided that irrigation systems are my friend. A couple non-flowering plants in seperate pots requiring a manual labor watering can is a possibilty, but I have proven that I am not quite the green thumb. I want that to change!
-5: Become more aware of current events. I don't want to be a political guru by any stretch of the imagination. But I also don't want to be unable to carry on an intelligent conversation about what is going on in the world.

Well, these are a lot of goals! I think writing them down puts on responsibility for attainment. We'll see!

Here we go!

So I've decided to break down and start doing the whole "blog thing". I have the other popular websites to take up my time, but I can stand to add something else to my busy life right? It seems like this is more of a journal than anything, a place where I can spout my frustrations and no one will talk back. And the best part of all, I can access it anywhere, including work! Shh! So here we go!
